The oldest corner of Ajax is also the cheapest place in town to leave for a flight. Pickering Village — the heritage pocket where Kingston Road crosses Duffins Creek, confusingly named for the neighbouring city but firmly inside Ajax — books at a $100 flat fare, the lowest zone on our chart, because it sits nearer Pearson than anywhere else we cover.
Leaving the Village, drivers drop south on Church Street to the Westney Road on-ramp — about six minutes of surface streets — and point west. From there the run is pure highway: 52 kilometres of the 401 through the Rouge lands and Scarborough, then the 427 northbound ramps to the terminals. Most departures land you at Level 3 curbside in about 45 minutes, and pre-dawn trips have done it in under 40.
When the westbound lanes congeal — think weekday 3 PM onward — there is a faster option to ask for: Church Street north to Taunton, east briefly to Highway 412, and over the top on the 407 ETR. It adds distance and subtracts time; because it is a toll road, the toll is added to your $100 at cost, and only when you request it.
Arriving home works in mirror image. The driver reads Pearson's live arrivals board, stages at your terminal's pickup curb — down one level at Terminal 1, straight outside at Terminal 3 — and rides the 401 east to the Westney exit, delivering you back to the Village with the same hundred-dollar bill total you paid going out.

Why is Pickering Village the lowest fare in Ajax?
Distance, simply. The Village anchors Ajax's western boundary, which trims three or four kilometres and several minutes off the standard airport run compared with central or east Ajax. That shorter trip prices at $100 flat — the floor of our zone chart. The rest of town ranges from $105 to $115 as you move east and north.
Is Pickering Village in Ajax or Pickering?
Ajax — despite the name. The historic village was absorbed into the Town of Ajax decades ago; the City of Pickering starts west of Duffins Creek. If your postal address says Ajax and you are near Kingston Road and Church Street, you are in our $100 zone. Addresses across the creek in Pickering proper are outside our coverage map.
How fast can I be at Pearson from the Village?
Forty-five minutes is the honest average; 40 is achievable before 6 AM. Church Street to the Westney ramp takes six minutes, and the highway leg runs 52 kilometres. The only slow variable is afternoon congestion through Scarborough — riders in a hurry can request the 407 ETR via Taunton and the 412, with the toll added to the fare.
